In today’s complex practice environments, working as part of an interdisciplinary team offers tremendous potential for holistic, client-centered care. Yet it also brings ethical challenges that require thoughtful navigation.

The NASW Code of Ethics (2.03): Interdisciplinary Collaboration) reminds us:

“Social workers who are members of an interdisciplinary team should participate in and contribute to decisions that affect the well-being of clients... Social workers should

attempt to resolve disagreements in a respectful and constructive manner that

considers the perspectives of others and is consistent with the NASW Code of Ethics.”

How do we put this into practice?

That’s where my 5 Pillars Model for Navigating Ethical Questions and Dilemmas © comes in — a supportive, structured approach to help you:

✔ Clarify professional roles and responsibilities

✔ Identify competing values and ethical principles

 ✔ Promote respectful communication

✔ Prioritize client well-being while honoring team input

✔ Document and reflect for accountability

Whether you’re facing boundary issues, confidentiality questions, or conflicting recommendations — ethical collaboration requires skill, clarity, and reflection.

Curious about working together? I offer free 30-minute Ethics Clarity Sessions — an opportunity to explore your concerns and see if we’re a good fit for 1:1 consultation or team training.
